Jacket up

After my two - excuse me - very long posts I just want to give you an image that was taken in Oxford. This coat is just perfect for the mid-season kind of weather. When the sun is shining a lot of people go out without putting a coat on and are then freezing the moment the glowing stops (sounds familiar right?!). That's why this kind of jacket is just so awesome. And what I like the most about it, is that this is thé most British coat you can think of. Hurray!

Fluffy duffy in blue

Just like last year, oversized coats are still in business… Big business!! And this is absolutely one of the trends that I love the most, so I hope it sticks around for another couple of years. Last year I bought the burgundy Sandro coat (remember?). This summer though, my eye fell on this beautiful blue fluffy duffy coat. Indeed, I said summer, as it is totally not crazy to try out winter garment when it's 30 degrees outside ;) Blue is my favorite color so I sealed the deal quite quickly.  And what's so funny is that I didn't knew that blue oversized coats would actually be a thing this winter: after I bought my coat, I saw similar coats popping up on fashion sites all the time (next to the pink ones, who are also still quite high in the ranking of most fashionable coats of FW14) Lucky me! What do you guys think about this trend? Do you also like to bring some color into these grey days, or do you remain a fan of the classic black-grey-brown kind of winter garment?

That coat

The perfect winter coat... the search for every woman (and man?!). In cold freezy times it's the kind of garment where you're seen in most of the time, so it's quite important that you buy a good one. And certainly one that you're not already sick of the next month!

This time I wanted my coat to be long. Really long... The kind of coat that falls below your knee... But I didn't found what I wanted. But then I fell in love with this beauty at Sandro. It's a big investment, I know, but totally worth it! We're already good buddies

What kind of 'body warmers' are you guys wearing?

Trench

As ultimate fashionlovers, I'm sure the term 'trenchcoat' rings a bell. The story of this iconic piece of garment goes way back. The trenchcoat was initially developed as an alternative to the heavy serge greatcoats worn by British and French soldiers in the First World War and this invention is claimed by both Burberry and Aquascutum, two über-english luxury brands...

This sort of coat has remained fashionable in the decades following the World Wars. Due to their original role as part of an army officer's uniform, the trenchcoat lent a businesslike respectability. And that's why it's generally excepted that the trenchcoat can 'class up' your outfit! ;)

I don't know exactly who's seen by the real inventor, but for me it's 100 % Burberry. I'm looking forward to the day when I'm one of their lucky-trenchcoat-customers. Until then, I have my Tommy Hilfiger version that replaces the one that I had from Zara... My wallet wasn't so happy with the investment, but I promised him that I'll use this one for years! (or definitely until I'm able to buy one from Burberry).

For the occasion some british inspired pictures. Enjoy!

The bigger, the better

If there is one thing that doesn't have to fit perfectly this winter, it's your coat: the bigger, the better! And that's just wonderful, because I've always been a fan of 'oversized'. I have no problem with my pants being tight, but my upper pieces definitely can be baggy. I'm not really a fan of tops, sweaters, t-shirts... that stick to your body like glue. But I know (and I hear you guys think), we're women so we have to be feminine. Forget about all that --> oversized is absolutely feminine too if you do it well!

Last year, I was already looking for my oversized coat when I went to London for some Christmas-shopping. Eventually, I achieved my goal and found one at Topshop. Pictures will follow in winter time ;).
