H&M Studio FW15 #partone

In september the fall winter collection of H&M Studio arrived in the shops, and I was one of the first persons to get my hands on some pieces. This burgundy cap is one of them. I've always been a cap person, so for me it was obvious that I added this special edition to my collection. It is just the perfect headgear on a windy autumn or cold winter day. To my opinion, a lot of girls think caps aren't suitable for women. And actually, I don't understand why?! Today there are so many beautiful caps available, especially designed for women. Even the big designer brands believe this is absolutely possible. So girls, instead of wearing the beanie that everybody has, try to stand out this winter and buy yourself a cap!

Alexander Wang X H&M

Just like last year, I really wanted to get my hands on a piece of the H&M collab from this year: Alexander Wang. Sad part of my goal was that because I'm studying abroad now, that was as good as impossible. The closest shop for me was located in Manchester, but due to the huge amount of work that I have for university, I wasn't able to plan a trip for this Alexander Wang madness. The only chance I would maybe have, was in London because I was going there for the weekend to visit my family. For me it seemed kind of impossible (again) because that trip was 2 full days after the launch of the collection. Last year the Isabel Marant collection was sold out in less than an hour - and that was in Gent, Belgium - so how would it be possible that in one of the biggest fashion cities in the world that would be different?

So on Saturday the 8th of November, we went shopping in the Regent street area, where also one of the H&M stores, who had the collection available, was located. In the United Kingdom you could only shop the collection in Birmingham, Manchester and London… That is so strange if you know that in my little country Belgium you could find the clothes in Gent, Brussels, Antwerp and I think in even some other H&M's. England, I sincerely expected more from you ;) !

But I have to admit one thing to you guys: it wasn't really love at first sight with the collection. When I heard the collab was with Alexander Wang, I was so excited because I love his creations and the fabrics that he uses. But when I saw the first images of the collection - also remember the pictures of Rihanna wearing a top and a legging kind of pants - I was so so so so disappointed. Almost all the clothes looked unwearable. I definitely like sporty clothes, but this was just over the top. Although I hated most of the collection, there were a few pieces where I was really fond of: the backpacks, the white and black tops, the grey WANG sweater (I would've bought the one made for men, because the female one was a crop-sweater and I knew I would never wear that), the black sweater/jacket and the grey black coat.

So when I entered the H&M shop in London I had low expectations… But they increased quite fast, when I saw a big banner of Alexander Wang and still a lot of clothes under that banner (hurray!). I started screening everything that I could screen, and realized that of course a lot of the pieces were the big sizes or the completely unwearable and expensive stuff. I grabbed one of the t-shirts, that I really liked and headed to the first floor to check if there was some stuff left from the guys. Unfortunately this check-up ended up negative. So I went down to the ground floor for a last look, and then I saw the black sweater/jacket that I wanted, just hanging there all alone… This one wasn't there before, so I saw my chance, grabbed it, fitted it, and (thank you parents!) bought it! Operation Wang in London: awesome! I have to admit, it was quite an expensive operation, but it was definitely worth it because that day was the first day where I could call myself the owner of an Alexander Wang design ;)

Orthopedic beauty

I already had this post in my head for a very long time, and as our Belgian summer is now halfway it was time to share it with you guys.
It is undeniable: the orthopedic shoe is überhot these days. A few years ago, my title here would be totally ambivalent. But today a lot of people seem to have changed their mind when it comes to the Birkenstocks and his associates. And I'm one of them (although I've never really hated this sort of shoes). Birkenstocks sandals are already a long time a part of my wardrobe but today I'm happy that also other people want them in their closet. To really call it the next fashion piece, that's maybe over the top. But I'm definitely of the opinion that it can be super stylish if you combine it well. Are you guys fan?

Crushing on & Other Stories

Until a few weeks ago, not a lot of people in Belgium knew that H&M and Cos also had a cool sister, named & Other Stories. But now I think this shop is highly ranked on the must visit list of every fashion lover, since they've landed in Brussels and Antwerp. I discovered this brand thanks to my twin nieces (who had the chance to go to the grand opening of the shop in Antwerp... LUCKY BASTARDS!). As you scroll back over previous blogposts, you already saw my favorite bracelet passing by a couple of times, and yes, it's an & Other Stories creation!

When I heard that the brand was finally coming to Belgium, I must honestly say that I almost bumped my head to the ceiling while jumping in the air -> finally an ending to my online ordering addiction at the & Other Stories site. So a week after the opening, one morning, I went from Leuven to Antwerp just to visit the shop. It was thus a one way and back kinda trip. Cray, you could say, but totally worth it! The shop is exactly how I'd expected it to be: light colors, a lot of space (reaaaaaaally a lot of space as the shop is gigantic with its two floors), lively atmosphere... Perfect for exposing all their beautiful clothes and products.

But why do I love this brand so much? Well, I have always been a big fan of the Scandinavian style, and for me, & Other Stories really does bring this kind of fashion. The cuts in the dresses, skirts and blouses really reflect that. Also their minimalistic jewelry are to die for. As the brand says it itself: & Other Stories really wants to offer a wide range of ready-to-wear so that women can create their own story. Mission accomplished, I would say!

There was really one piece that I really wanted to have: the blue-white dress from the host collection designed by Vika Gazinskaya. Unfortunately, there was only one left and it wasn't my size (sad face)... But instead I bought something else from this absolutely fab & Other Stories cooperation, but that's material for one of the next blogposts!

Cheap sheep

It's been quite a long time that I've been searching some kind of 'body warmer'. I saw some beautiful pieces at Sandro and Maje, but I didn't want to spend too much money on it because I don't know if this is a keeper, or just a temporary craving of me. So a few weeks ago I saw this one while I was window-shopping in Leuven. Each time I passed by the H&M, this sheep skinned coat was screaming my name through the window. So, at some point, I had to go in and make this one mine... And I must say I'm impressed by the quality! It's really soft and made of good materials.

I really like this kind of clothes, because you can just wear it on top of everything: just on a jeans when you go out and do some grocery shopping, or when you're going to an event above your dress. What do you think? Are you guys a fan? Or do you think that it looks like I have to go and let out my sheep?

Marant madness at H&M

Hi ladies and a few gents!

Yes yes, I was one of the crazy persons that went queuing for the new collaboration from H&M. This time they had the honor to work with Isabel Marant. At 6 o'clock I was present at their shop in Gent. But I was not the only one, as already 13 persons were in front of me! And believe me: I had three awful hours, standing there in the rain and cold, totally unprepared. There were people with magazines, books, coffee... to kill the time, but how could I know, being a rookie in this kind of stuff. On top of that, there was a lot of tension as the hours passed. Everybody was discussing his plan how to get the pieces they wanted. Some divided the tasks: one had to look after the skirt and take all sizes, the other one at the leather pants... You will not believe it, but I in fact got a little scared. Will some women really push and fight over some clothes? I was a fan of the collection, but that doesn't mean I would really 'kill' somebody for a pants. But when the doors opened at 9, it became clear that you just don't have the time to fight, as in 11 minutes the whole collection was sold out.

And for my male followers: believe it or not, there were also 4 men standing in line for their favorite pieces, because Isabel was so kind to also sign some creations for you guys...

Here a sneak peek of what I got and outfit posts will follow soon!!! Do you like what I purchased?

Dotted pants

For me (and my wallet), Zara is one of the greatest inventions in the world. By copying the high-fashion brands, they make it possible for us to buy clothes that resemble the 'real' creations. Almost every iconic piece of clothing has its look-alike at Zara. So when I saw this pants, I immediately recognized the 'dotted jeans' from Marc Jacobs in it. I'm so fond of my newest possession!
